Christopher McQuarrie, one of Tom Cruise’s closest creative partners, has confirmed that Top Gun 3 is conceptually complete. He said it took just one good pitch from Ehren Kruger to get the story off the ground.
While directing the film hasn’t been decided yet, McQuarrie is preparing by studying the late Tony Scott’s cinematic techniques. He emphasized that the real task lies in ensuring the film’s emotional gravity, not just its spectacle.
As a bonus, McQuarrie also teased the possible return of Les Grossman, promising that conversations around the character’s comeback are ongoing and seriously entertaining.
