‘selective audio’: reagan foundation slams ad that ended talks

Date:

The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation has slammed a Canadian ad for using “selective audio,” an ad that has now led president Donald Trump to end all trade talks with Ottawa.
The foundation said the ad “misrepresents” Reagan’s 1987 comments and was used without permission. They are “reviewing legal options.”
President Trump cited the foundation’s criticism in his own post. He called the ad “fraudulent” and “fake,” and accused Canada of “egregious behavior.”
The ad was launched by Ontario premier Doug Ford to protest 35% US tariffs on Canadian goods.
The halt in talks, confirmed by secretary of state Marco Rubio, threatens a massive trade relationship, as over 75% of Canadian exports go to the US.
